Dr. Dombrower was born in Toronto, Ontario. He went to High School at AY Jackson, Secondary School in North York. He completed his pre medical training at the University of Toronto, Scarborough Campus.
Dr. Dombrower graduated with a MD from the University of Toronto in 1993 and continued his postgraduate education at the University of Toronto obtaining a fellowship in Internal Medicine (1997) and Geriatric Medicine (1998). In addition, he has been appointed Instructor, in the division of Geriatric Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto. He trained at Sunnybrook and Womens College Health Sciences Centre, University Health Network and Mount Sinai Hospital.
Dr. Dombrower is active in the training of PGY1 and PYG2 trainees in the family medicine program at the University of Toronto. He is the Baycrest site coordinator for Geriatric resident training program. From time to time he coordinates/supervises electives for pregraduate medical trainees (clinical clerks)
Dr. Dombrower’s primary office is situated at the Baycrest Centre for Geriatric Care. He is the Medical Director of the Apotex Centre Jewish Home for the Aged at the Baycrest Centre for Geriatric Care as well as the in patient rehabilitation program director in the Baycrest Hospital. At Baycrest he is also a consultant in the memory clinic and Community Outreach Programs.
He is a consultant geriatrician at Markham Stouffville Hospital in York region where he runs a weekly geriatric clinic. He has been the medical director for the Unionville Home Society since 1998. Unionvilla is one of few long term care facilities in Toronto that has a Geriatrician on-site as the Medical Director.
Dr. Dombrower also works as a General Internist at North York General Hospital and Sunnybrook and Women's Health Science Centre. He is a consultant for St. Johns Rehabilitation Hospital. He has held previous affiliations with the Toronto Rehabilitation Institute community outreach team.
Dr. Dombrower has a special interest in dementia, including Alzheimer’s Dementia, Lewy Body Dementia, and Vascular Dementia; urinary incontinence and geriatric rehabilitation.
He is a Continuing Medical Education Speaker for Novartis, Pfizer, and Janssen-Ortho speaking about the medical treatment of Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias.
He has an avid interest in geriatric medical legal work including, capacity assessments (testamentary assessment, substitute decision making, power of attorney, personal injury, immigration and malpractice.
He is a member of the Ontario Medical Association, Toronto Regional Geriatric Program, Canadian Geriatric Society.
He is married with 3 children.
